SENDERS SAYS
New data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and from Harvard University, fails to find a link between Menactra, the vaccine currently licensed to protect against meningococcal meningitis in adolescents and adults, and Guillain Barre disease, a neurologic condition. In a study of over 4.5 million 11-18 year olds, there were no cases of Guillain Barre disease in the 45 days after getting Menactra. According to Dr. Carol Baker, the chair of the Meningitis Task Force for the CDC, this study should put to rest any lingering concerns about a relationship between Menactra and Guillain Barre disease.
